I‘m glad they will be giving things more appropriate value this time.
Note: This article has been published before GTA 5 release.
It always annoyed me that we could buy properties dirt cheap, and yet things like hot dogs cost $100 or whatever. It didn’t make sense and it was always far too easy to buy everything you wanted.
This really helps put the emphasis on earning. Now robbing that liquor store won’t just be for a laugh, it will be because you need money for all sorts of things.
Yes the heists will yield great rewards, but buy an expensive house, or an expensive vehicle, and that’s your profits gone just like that, and then you’re back to earning again. It will be expensive just to put a big heist together, since you will need equipment, vehicles, weapons etc.
I hope mission rewards will be more realistic too. If you give your friend a lift to the airport, or do a mission which is actually for yourself, you don’t get cash for it.
I hope too, that ammo, car mods, nice clothes and all that stuff you take for granted in past GTAs will be appropriately expensive. It would be nice too if ammo wasn’t quite so abundant from your dead enemies. I very rarely needed to buy weapons or ammo on previous games, because I’d just pick them up from the people i killed. Dead guys need to carry minimal ammo in my opinion.
Also it would be cool if the stock markets weren’t too easy, so there is a real danger that you can lose a lot of money if you don’t invest shrewdly. You were rich, made a bad investment, then all of a sudden you’re broke again and need to hustle on the streets to get back on your feet.
Another great addition woud be credit card companies and underground loan sharks. If you need to borrow to get yourself back afloat, you can, but if you don’t use your money wisely and just decide to blow it on a new pimped out landstalker with unnecessarily large rims, then you will have debt collectors and loan sharks on your back. Official debt collectors should be able to repo your stuff, and loan sharks should just send guys to beat the sh*t out of you and destroy your stuff.
Imagine how great that would be. You make one bad investment, then all of a sudden your money counter in the top right of the screen is showing a negative amount, and you have to dodge debt collectors, while you work to rob stores, desperately trying to gain some money to pay them back.
